To All of My Supporters,

Thank you.

We did not get the result we wanted, but we did achieve change at City Hall and that is good news. I called Councilmember-Elect Loren Taylor this morning to congratulate him on his victory and I wish him every success.

Working with you on this campaign has been an amazing and positive experience for me – and I am proud of what we achieved:

  • We ran a policy-focused campaign that was focused on issues. That’s no small feat in these times when our politics has devolved into name-calling and outright lies. We elevated the debate.

  • We had thousands of conversations with D6 residents about the future of D6 and the future of Oakland. That’s a huge victory. As a former board member of the League of Women Voters, I know an engaged electorate makes for a healthy Democracy. I am proud to have participated in that.

  • Finally – and most importantly – I had the experience of working side-by-side with you and all our volunteers and donors. That has truly been the honor of a lifetime.

So again, I just want to say: THANK YOU.

Thank you to my amazing volunteers, who knocked on doors, made phone calls, worked events, opened their homes, and so much more.

Thank you to my donors, who endured endless phone calls and emails asking for money. You came through and I will always appreciate you for that!

Thank you to the organizations, elected officials, community leaders and neighbors who endorsed our campaign and put their name on the line to help us win.

A very special thank you goes out to our union supporters. Unions embraced this campaign, gave us energy, and made us proud to stand side by side with Oakland’s working families.

Now it's time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work making District 6 and all of Oakland the best place in America to live, work and raise a family.

Warm regards,
